Bumruk is an outdoor beach brand founded by two cousins based in West Palm Beach, Florida, who saw an opportunity to improve the beach-going experience. In mid 2020, Scott Lachapelle and cousin Will Sherman found themselves biking to the beach daily as a result of the lockdowns, social distancing measures, and reduced work hours induced by the pandemic. It was only a few bike rides into this new routine - lugging everything they needed to the beach each day- that they realized the need for a more efficient, comfortable, more convenient way of consolidating and transporting the chairs, books, games, sun protection, food and drink that makes for a perfect beach day. After a few more pedal- fueled brainstorming sessions, while standing on the beach staring out at the wild blue yonder, the idea for Bumruk was born.
Since then, they have been working their bums off daily to turn their idea into a reality. After months of research and testing various materials, they created their own prototype, made improvements, sourced manufacturing, ran a successful crowdfunding campaign, and are now ready to launch the Bumruk to the public.
Notorious for spending their family summer vacations together brainstorming various business ideas in Newport, Rhode Island, Scott and Will have been natural entrepreneurs since they were kids, but put off prioritizing their ideas for school and other work. Because of the unexpected circumstances of 2020, they have finally had the opportunity to see this idea to actualization.
